Chinese President Xi Jinping met with Japanese Prime Minister's Special Envoy and Secretary-General of the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) Junbo Second in the Great Hall of the People on the 24th.
Xi pointed out that at present, Sino-Japanese relations are back on track and showing a positive momentum of development. The two sides should abide by the principles established in the four political documents of China and Japan, adhere to the general direction of peace and friendship, continue to deepen mutually beneficial cooperation and promote the healthy and stable development of bilateral relations. We should put into effect the political consensus that China and Japan "do not pose a threat to each other", "cooperate with each other and support each other's peaceful development", and push bilateral exchanges and cooperation in various fields to a new level. Both sides should tap the potential of cooperation. China welcomes the Japanese side's deep participation in China's reform and opening up, and hopes the Japanese side will take an active part in building the "one belt and one road". Both sides should strengthen communication and coordination, jointly safeguard multilateralism and free trade, and jointly promote the construction of an open world economy. China supports Japan in hosting the Osaka summit of G-20 leaders. This year is the Year of Promoting Youth Exchange between China and Japan. Both sides should sow the seeds of friendship widely among the people of the two countries, especially among young people, so as to promote the common feelings of the people.
Second Junbo handed over a letter from Prime Minister Shinzo Abe to Xi Jinping and said it was a pleasure for Japan-China relations to return to normal. President Xi Jinping's views on bilateral relations deeply touched me. President Xi Jinping's proposal to build the "one belt and one way" initiative is a great idea with great potential. The Japanese side positively evaluates China's important contribution to the world and the region through this vision. As Prime Minister Abe's special envoy, I am here to attend the summit forum. I would like to strengthen cooperation with China in this regard and support extensive exchanges between all sectors of the two countries, especially young people.
Xi Jinping received a letter from Abe Jinsan and asked Second Junbo to convey his greetings to Abe.
Ding Xuexiang, Yang Jiechi, Wang Yi and He Lifeng participated in the above activities.
