On December 21, Feng Shixin, deputy director of the Copyright Bureau of the Ministry of Publicity, said at the 2018 Annual Conference of the Chinese Game Industry that the first batch of games had been audited and the number of the first batch was being issued. Because the application stock is too large, it is expected that digestion will take time.
This means that the number approval of Chinese games will be changed at the end of March due to the gradual suspension of a notice.
Previously, there have been some signals about the loosening of online game regulatory policies. In early December, the news of the establishment of a new ethics committee for online games was reported by the media, which surprised the industry. According to Xinhua News Agency, under the guidance of the Propaganda Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, the ethics committee will be responsible for reviewing game content and guiding online game enterprises to consciously abide by social ethics.
Reported that the Commission has reviewed 20 games, including 11 games for modification requirements, and due to inappropriate content on the other nine games made no approval decision. Therefore, some analysts believe that the public announcement of the new approval process indicates that regulators have made some progress in restarting the game approval process.
In this regard, Feng Shixin said that the ethics committee of online games previously reported by the media will not replace the expert review, mainly to examine the games that are more controversial after the game goes online and that there will be more controversial judgment before the game goes online. But officials will not publish the committee's list to avoid interference.
He also emphasized that in view of the problems of teenagers'addiction to online games and excessive consumption, which are strongly reflected in society, institutional measures will be introduced to strictly regulate and restrict them. In view of the prominent problems in industrial development, such as excessive profit-seeking, infringement and plagiarism, and consumption fraud, we will speed up the formulation of special norms, explore the establishment of credit files, and strictly standardize the market competition order.
